Dear Supporters, Advocates, and Volunteers,

As we reflect on our journey over the past year, we are filled with immense gratitude for each and every one of you who have contributed to the growth and impact of Virginia Moms for Change (VMFC). As we celebrate our first anniversary, we want to take a moment to highlight the incredible strides we have made together in advancing our mission towards a safer Virginia.

Since our inception, VMFC has been committed to amplifying the voices of mothers and caregivers across the Commonwealth, advocating for policies that prioritize the well-being and safety of our communities. And thanks to the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, we have achieved remarkable milestones in just one year.

In the lead-up to the 2023 election for seats in the Virginia General Assembly, VMFC endorsed 53 candidates who shared our commitment to gun violence prevention. We are thrilled that 37 of these endorsed candidates won their elections, and the Virginia House of Delegates was successfully flipped blue.

Our first Advocacy Day marked a pivotal moment for VMFC as we engaged directly with our elected representatives to champion gun safety bills. Meeting with six representatives and distributing over a hundred informational sheets, our presence was felt in the halls of power as we advocated tirelessly for policies that promote gun violence prevention and support the well-being of all Virginians.

Throughout the legislative session, VMFC remained steadfast in our commitment to advocacy, submitting public comments on 45 bills in the Virginia General Assembly and making calls to our representatives to voice our support for 30 distinct pieces of legislation. Additionally, we are immensely proud to have had our first VMFC volunteers testify on bills directly impacting our communities, amplifying our voices and advocating for meaningful change.

Collaboration has always been at the heart of VMFC's work, and this past year, we joined forces with a coalition of Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) advocacy groups to deliver a powerful message to Governor Youngkin: "Don't Veto our Safety."

In our efforts to foster community engagement and grassroots activism, VMFC organized numerous local meetups to promote gun violence prevention and facilitate meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most to Virginia families.

As we look ahead to the future, we are inspired by the incredible momentum and impact we have achieved in just one year. Together, we have proven that when we come together as mothers, caregivers, and advocates, we have the power to effect real and lasting change in our communities.

On behalf of Virginia Moms for Change, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every volunteer, supporter, and ally who has stood alongside us on this journey. Your dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to our cause are the driving force behind everything we do, and we look forward to continuing this journey together as we work towards a brighter, safer, and more equitable future for all.

With gratitude and determination,

The Board Members of Virginia Moms for Change
